The Friday Field Day Mission under the Connect Earth Programme marked its 50th episode in Pakyong District, achieving the conversion of more than 300 acres of barren and fallow land into cultivable fields within a year.

Launched by the Rural Development Department, the programme focuses on restoring land productivity in partnership with Panchayats and line departments. It is part of the broader Connect Earth Programme, which seeks to balance the five natural elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space—by linking environmental sustainability with human welfare.

To commemorate the milestone, Panchayat President Ms. Ranju Poudyali, along with members of Chalamthang Pacheykhani GPU, visited the Connect Earth Sweat Contribution Centre at Samsing, Pakyong, and expressed their support for the initiative.

The Office of the Additional District Collector (Development), Pakyong, acknowledged the contributions of several key officials, including Additional Directors of Agriculture & Horticulture Tshering Chophel Bhutia, Deputy Directors Sangita Basnet, Rebecca Gurung, and J.N. Sharma, as well as staff members and community participants.

Officials said the success of the Friday Field Day Mission demonstrates the collective effort of government departments, Panchayats, and local residents in promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental balance.
